Filho de um militar, nascido em 1939. Foi educado em Taiwan. Seu primeiro filme, em 1969, foi um documentário sobre os Nacionalistas, que motivou protestos do governo. Desde 1984, fazia pesquisas sobre o tema de Hei Tang Yang 731, só conseguindo realizá-lo em 1988. "Por Trás do Sol" é seu filme de estréia.

Beto Souza born in 1961, in Rio Grande do Sul. He graduated in journalism and has worked since 1988 producing videos and films. In cinema, he produced the documentary A Morte no Edifício Império (1993) and directed and produced a short film 2075 A.D. (1999). Netto Perde Sua Alma is his first feature. Tabajara Ruas born in 1942, in Uruguaiana. He graduated in architecture and cinema and is a writer and essayist (author of “O Dia em que Dorival Encarou o Guarda”). He has worked with cinema since 1978. He wrote the script for Kilas, O Mau da Fita (1978; 4th Mostra), directed by José Fonseca e Costa and awarded prizes at film festivals at Locarno, Biarritz, and Lisbon. He was also script writer for Anahy de las Missiones (1997), directed by Sérgio Silva. This film was awarded the prizes for best director and script at the Brasília Film Festival in 1997.

Graduated in communication from the University of São Paulo. Since 1983, has directed more than 400 advertising films, music videos and DVDs. One of the pioneers of Brazilian video art, had his works exhibited at the Tate Gallery in London and at the São Paulo Bienal. He has directed the documentary Amazônia Niemeyer - Uma Viagem pela Belém Brasília (2007) and the documentary series Amores Expressos, both exhibited by TV Cultura. He was also one of the directors of the series Amor em 4 Atos, exhibited by TV Globo. In partnership with Elaine Cesar, he has directed the documentary Evoé: Portrait of an Anthropophage (2011), about the Brazilian actor, playwright José Celso Martinez Corrêa. Jungle is also the director of the fictional feature Tomorrow Never Again (2011, 35th Mostra). He screened the short films in virtual reality Fire in the Forest (2017) and River of Mud (2016) at the 41st Mostra.

Nascido em Ooita, Japão, em 24 de maio de 1960. Enquanto frequentava a Universidade de Tóquio, realizou o primeiro curta-metragem em super-8. Ao sair da faculdade, tornou-se assistente de direção e, em 1989, fez o primeiro longa-metragem: Kagai Jyugio, Boko.Desde então tem se revelado um mestre em produzir filmes eróticos de baixo orçamento, os chamados Pink Films. Começou a se tornar conhecido internacionalmente a partir de 1994, quando The Dream of Garuda foi convidado a participar dos festivais de Rotterdã, Holanda, e Montreal, Canadá. Em 1995, No Man`s Land foi exibido no Rotterdam Film Festival, na mostra Pink Pictures From Japan.

Nasceu em Mito, Japão, em 1944, e mais tarde mudou-se para Tóquio, onde estudou no Photography Institute of Polytechnics e na Waseda University. Em 1970, entrou para o grupo Yonki-no-Kai, fundado por diretores como Akira Kurosawa e Keisuke Kinoshita, tornando-se aluno de Kurosawa. No ano seguinte, trabalhou como diretor assistente no documentário de TV Uma No Uta (The Poem of Horses), sob supervisão de Kurosawa. Foi também para o diretor que ele viajou pela União Soviética, em busca de locações para Derzu Uzala. Em 1985, realizou o documentário Hikari to Kaze: Portugal no Kibatogyu. Depois da Chuva marca sua estréia na direção de longas.

Born in Osaka, Japan, 1960. He studied at the Japanese Film Academy in Yokohama. He was an assistant to Shohei Imamura. The subject of much controversy in his own country, he directed the Dead or Alive trilogy (1999, 2000, and 2002), Audition (2001), Ichi the Killer (2001), Gozu (2003, 27th Mostra), Sukiyaki Western Django (2007, 31st Mostra) and 13 Assassins (2010).

TAKESHI KITANO
Born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1947. A very popular actor in Japan, where he is known as Beat Takeshi, he worked in films such as Furyo (1983), by Nagisa Oshima, and Yoichi Sai’s Blood and Bones (2004, 29th Mostra). In 1989, Kitano made his directing debut with Violent Cop, followed by Boiling Point (1990). Sonatine (1993) and Kids Return (1996) were screened at the 20th Mostra. With Hana-Bi (1997), he was awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and the Critic’s Prize at the 21st Mostra. He also directed Kikujiro (1999), Dolls (2002), Zatoichi (2003), Glory to the Filmmaker! (2007), Achilles and the Tortoise (2008), Outrage (2010), Outrage: Beyond (2012) and Ryuzo and His Seven Henchmen (2015), all of them exhibited at Mostra. In 1998, Takeshi Kitano signed the poster of the 22nd Mostra.

Talal Derki
Born in Damascus, Syria, and lives in Berlin. He studied directing in Greece and worked as assistant director and director of Arabian TV shows. In cinema, he directed the short films Hello Damascus Goodbye Damascus (2003) e A Whole Line of Trees (2005), in addition to the documental Ode to Lesvos (2016). Derki made his debut as a feature director with Return to Homs (2013), winner of Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival. Of Fathers and Sons is his second feature film.

Neville Dalmeida Born in Belo Horizonte, state of Minas Gerais. He began film making at the Center for Cinematographic Studies. He was one of the founders of CEMICE - The Minas Gerais Center for Experimental Cinema, and he was active in theater at the T.U. - the Minas Gerais University Theater. In 1973, with Hélio Oiticica, he conceived and made Cosmococa - Programs In Progress, shown at countless art instituions in Brazil and all over the world. He was harassed by the Military Dictatorship Censorship to the extent that his films, Jardim de Guerra (1967), Piranhas do Asfalto (1970), were never shown. Other films were forbidden, cut, and later, shown. Amongst these: Mangue Bangue (1970), A Dama da Lotação (1978), Os Sete Gatinhos (1980), Rio Babilônia (1982), Matou a Família e Foi ao Cinema (1990), Navalha na Carne (1997), and Maksuara - Crepúsculo dos Deuses (2005). He was awarded prizes, amongst others: Prize for Best Director - Brasília Film Festival - 1991

She made the documentary features The Tiniest Place (2011), awarded at film festivals like Lima, Mar del Plata and Visions du Reél, and Tempestad (2016), presented at Berlinale. Tatiana Issa – She was born in São Paulo but spent the majority of her childhood in Europe. Daughter of the production designer Américo Issa, she began her acting career at the age of seven. She played the heroine Ceci in O Guarani (1996), based on the classic novel by José de Alencar. She studied Theatre, Film, History of Art, Languages and Literature in countries such as France, Italy, England, Austria, Germany, and USA. She began her directorial career with the American short film Medusa, made together with Raphael Alvarez. Dzi Croquettes is her first feature-length film. Raphael Alvarez – He was born in Rio de Janeiro. He’s worked on adverts, theatre plays and TV soaps from a very young age. He moved to New York to improve his acting career. He studied Acting, Theatre and Production at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He acted in musicals on Broadway such as West Side Story, Kiss of the Spider Woman and Jesus Christ Superstar. He also studied Editing, Direction, and Photography at the New York Film Academy and Singing at the Broadway Dance Center. Dzi Croquettes is his first feature-length film as a director.

She has been working as a film director and performance artist since 2001, the year she helped found the Berlin Women`s Film Collective Hangover, from which she was a member until 2007, directing short films such as Remake (2004). In her production company Turanskyj & Ahlrichs, she directed the two first features of a trilogy entitled Women and Work: The Drifter (2010) and Top Girl (2014), both screened at the 42nd Mostra.

He began his career in cinema as an actor in the 1900s. In 2011, he initiated his work as a director and a film screenwriter with the feature Luzeiro Volante. He also directed Batguano (2014) and the short film Purple (2012).

O sobrinho do diretor Jonathan Demme trabalhou com o tio do famoso na direção do videoclipe Streets of Filadélfia para o roqueiro Bruce Springsteen, em 1993. Antes disso, Ted formou-se pela Universidade de Nova York e trabalhou como produtor-assistente na MTV por sete anos. Em 1992, ele realizou o curta The Bet, sobre a compulsão pelo jogo de dois irmãos. 0 curta ganhou o prêmio principal nos festivais de Houston e de Aspen nesse ano. Em 1993, ele estreou em longas com a comédia musical Who`s The Man, marcada pela aparição de mais de quarenta astros do rap em pontas. Em 1995, ele dirigiu outra comédia, de humor negro, The Ref, estrelada por Dennis Leary, Judy Davis e Kevin Stacey. Este é seu terceiro longa.

Was born into the gypsy community in Grenoble, France, in 1978. After studying modern literature at university, he attended the French film school Fémis. Has directed three short films: Embrasser les Tigres (2004), Dans L`oeil (2006) and Je Viens (2008). Jimmy Riviere, co-written with Rebecca Zlotowski, is his first feature film.

Nikki also made Euthanizer (2017, 41st Mostra), which was the official Finnish Oscar entry for the Academy Awards, and Nimby (2020, 44th Mostra).

Escritor e cineasta, Terence Davies nasceu em Liverpool, Inglaterra, em 1945. Em 1975, começou sua carreira, escrevendo textos para rádio e peças de teatro. Em 1977, entrou para National Film and Television School. Mas seu primeiro filme, Children, já havia sido realizado em 1976. Seguiram-se Madonna and Child(1977), Death and Transfiguration(1980), Vozes Distantes(1987) e O Fim do Longo Dia(1992), exibido na 16ª Mostra. Seu primeiro romance, Hallelujah Now, foi publicado em 1984.

With more than 50 years of experience in the theater, in 1967 she started up the Grupo Rotunda, the first theater company in the countryside of São Paulo. In 1970, she tried to produce Topography of a Naked Man in the theater, but the text was forbidden by the censors. She finally managed to produce the play in 1985 and won various prizes with it. She was an Acting teacher and Master of Arts at the University of São Paulo. She also produced a series of TV documentaries, Povos do Mar. In 2002, she was the casting director for the kids film A Ilha do Terrível Rapaterra, by Ariane Porto. She makes her directorial film debut at the age of 75 with Topography of a Naked Man.

Born in 1949 in USA. Director, producer and screenwriter, he was the only American to join the cast of the British TV show Monty Python’s Flying Circus, for which he also produced animation spots. In 1975, he directed with Terry Jones the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail. After that, he directed Jabberwocky (1977). Between his other movies are Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life (1983), Brazil (1985), The Fisher King (1991, Silver Lion at Venice Film Festival), Twelve Monkeys (1995), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998) and The Brothers Grimm (2005). Em 1986, foi diretor de fotografia e co-roteirista de After The Argument, vencedor do CBS Telefest Award de melhor curta dramático e do Norman Jewison Filmaker Award. O produtor e diretor Terry Zwigoff é conhecido inetrnacionalmente por seu aclamado documentário Louie Bloue, um retrato de um obscuro e excêntrico bluesman e artista, chamado Howard Armstrong (que ganhou destaque depois do trabalho de Zwigoff). Ele também realizou um documentário sobre sobre a música havaiana, A Family Named Moe. Zwigoff, que conhece Robert Crumb há mais de 25 anos, tocou na banda de Crumb, The Cheap Stuit Serenaders e publicou mitos de seus quadrinhos nos anos 70. Os dois escreveram juntos, recentemente, o roteiro de The New Girl Friend, que eles esperam realizar em breve.

She worked as a journalist between 1967 and 1970, but left the country for voluntary exile in Chile, USA, France, and Portugal. In 1970, she returned to Brazil and began work in cinema with a short film Quando a Rua Vira Casa, in 1981. Her filmography also includes films and videos such as Lages, a Força do Povo (1983), Terra para Rose (1987), O Ar Nosso de Cada Dia (1992) and Pai de Gigantes (1994). She is also the author of several books.

In 1996, the 20th Mostra made a retrospective including his first films. He also directed The Weeping Meadow (2004) and The Dust of Time (2009) presented at the 33rd Mostra, where in addition to a new retrospective of his work, he was awarded the Humanity Prize. He died in 2012 at the age of 76.

Thierry Ravalet é jornalista, trabalhou em emissoras de TV e rádio da França e foi redator publicitário. Realizou reportagens na Iugoslávia e na Alemanha.

The CD sold over two million copies the world over. They are also known for investing in music videos that are visually elaborate and they always perform dressed as robots. He followed up with two English language films: It’s All about Love (2003, 27th Mostra), Dear Wendy (2005, 29th Mostra), Submarino (2010), The Hunt (2012) and Far from the Madding Crowd (2015).

An entrepreneur from an early age, Brandon started an online natural health company and grew it to be the largest in Europe. After several years working with Fortune 500 companies on Wall Street, Brandon gave it all up to be an independent filmmaker. Nicholas Klein Born in 1980 in St. Paul, Minnesota, Nicholas Klein grew up in England and studied Philosophy, Religion and Ethics at the University of London. Nicholas was a child actor in a Gerry Anderson’s sci-fi series Space Precinct and it was this experience that got him interested in film. He made his first documentary at the age of 16 about the aggressive skating scene in London (Crown Jewels). Daniel Klein Born in 1982 in St. Paul, Minnesota, Daniel Klein grew up in England and majored in Political Movements at NYU. An activist from an early age, Daniel has been involved in a number of human rights and social justice causes around the world. As well as being a filmmaker and activist, Daniel is a chef at a New York City restaurant. Tim Klein Born in 1983 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Tim Klein grew up in the Twin Cities and studied Film, Communications and African History at the University of Minnesota. Africa has been an important part of Tim’s life since listening to his father and grandfather tell stories of their experiences on the continent. Tim has been traveling and working in Africa since high school and it was those experiences that inspired him to make a film about the complexities of development in Africa.

He studied in the New York University Film School where he wrote, produced, and directed short films, Grandpa’s Twisted Hand and Thanksgiving, both with partner Michael Wolfson. He wrote and produced the autobiographical film Edge of Seventeen on his sexual crisis in adolescence. The feature was directed by David Moreton. Gypsy 83 is the second film from Trilogia de Ohio, that ended with Flamingos, the script for which is being written by Steven.

After that, he directed films like The Visitor (2007), Win Win (2011) and Spotlight (2015), which won the Academy Award for best picture and gave him the Academy Award for best original screenplay.

He was born in 1969 in Freising. He worked as a camera assistant before studying Film at the Academy of Media Arts (KHM) in Cologne in 1994. During an 8-month scholarship at the Escuela de Cine y Televisión in Cuba, he shot the short film Viene del Cielo (together with Christian Becker). He finished his studies in Cologne with the award-winning short film Vita Reducta. After his work as an assistant director for various feature films and as a director of TV documentaries, he shot his first feature film Fools, premiered at the Berlin Festival in 2003. Dr. Alemán is his second feature.

His first contact with comedy group Killinggänment took place in 1999 when he produced four TV short films for them which won the Golden Spire Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival and the Swedish TV’s Ikaros Award. His first feature film Bert - The Last Virgin was nominated for Best Director at the Swedish Film Institute. Four Shades of Brown (2004) was shown at the 28th Mostra.

Desde 56 até o triunfo da revolução em Cuba, dirigiu vários curtas da Cinerevista e em 59 seu primeiro documentário "Esta Tierra Nostra". Entre seus longas principais: "Memórias do Subdesenvolvimento"(68), "A última Ceia"(76), vencedor da 2ª Mostra, e "Até Certo Ponto"(84). Alea é o cineasta mais representativo do cinema cubano castrista.

Born in Texas (USA), in 1946. He was awarded a scholarship at Harvard University where he majored in American Literature. He moved to New York and began a career in the theater. He started in cinema in 1970, with a small role in a romantic drama, Love Story (1970). He then embarked on an intense career in films: JFK (1991), The Fugitive (1993, for which he was awarded the Oscar for best supporting actor), Natural Born Killers (1994, selection for the 18th Mostra), Batman Forever (1995), and two editions of Men in Black (1997 and 2002). His first film as director was a film for TV, The Good Old Boys. His first film as director for cinema was Los Tres Entierros de Melquiades Estrada, awarded the prizes for best actor (Tommy Lee Jones) and best script at the Cannes Film Festival 2005.

In 2001, he directed the documentary Independence: Around the Film Kedma by Amos Gitai (2002), a personal request by Israeli filmmaker Amos Gitai, during the making-of of his film Kedma (2002). After making a few documentaries focusing on filmmakers for television, he completed We Can`t Go Home Again (2006), his first fiction feature, screened at Berlin Film Festival 2006. He joined the project Baunsu ko gaurusu (1997) as a planner and then produced Ichigen San (2000). He made his directorial debut Private Moment in 2001. This is his fourth feature film as a director.

A Cabine is her first film as director.John-Paul Davidson was born in London, he studied theater and cinema in Paris, Bristol, and San Francisco. As an actor, he worked for the Jerzy Grotowski school in Poland. He became famous as a documentarist and made over 40 films, including Boys from Brazil (1993), on prostitution, for the BBC. In 1995, he directed a drama, The Grotesque, produced by Trudie Styler.

He became a special effects pioneer in Hong Kong with his fifth film, Zu Warriors from the Magic Mountain (1983) and became the most successful action film producer in Hong Kong. His directorial career includes Once Upon a Time in China (1991), followed by many sequels mostly directed by Hark; The Lovers (1994), Time and Tide (2002, 24th Mostra), Seven Swords (2005, 29th Mostra) and Flying Swords of Dragon Gate (2011, 37th Mostra).

TSUKAMOTO SHIN’YA
Nascido em Tóquio, em 1960, Tsukamoto Shin`ya tornou-se conhecido graças ao seu primeiro filme, Tetsuo (1987), ficção-científica underground, espécie de "Jaspion lisérgico", sobre um homem que tem seu corpo pouco a pouco transformado em metal. Ele próprio assume a influência dos seriados trashs japoneses e confessa que sua série favorita, na adolescência,era Ultra Q. Tsukamoto Shin`ya começou a fazer filmes aos 14 anos, quando ganhou uma câmera Super-8 do pai. Além de Tetsuo, fez Hiruko (1990), e Tetsuo II (1991).

TSUKAMOTO SHINYA
Nasceu em Tóquio, em 1960, Tsukamoto Shinya tornou-se conhecido internacionalmente por seu primeiro filme, Tetsuo (1987), espécie de "Jaspion lisérgico" sobre um rapaz que tem seu corpo transformado em metal. Tsukamoto assume a influência dos seriados japoneses e confessa que sua série favorita na adolescência era Ultra Q. Começou a fazer filmes aos 14 anos, quando ganhou do pai uma Super-8. Além de Tetsuo, fez Hiruko, Tetsuo II e Tóquio Porrada (seleção da 19ª Mostra).

Nascido em 1964, Imanishi trabalhou na produção de comerciais de TV durante três anos antes de realizar seu primeiro curta-mestragem, In the Name of Love, em 1991. Jirohachi é seu primeiro média-metragem.

Was born in Sendai, Japan, in 1957. Worked as an assistant director of Yoji Yamada on a number of films including the Tora-san series and A Class to Remember (1993). His first feature film was Happy Family Plan (2000).

TUCA SIQUEIRA
Is a screenwriter and director who lives and works in Recife, Brazil. Has a degree in communication from the Federal University of Pernambuco and a specialized qualification in cinematographic studies from the Catholic University of Pernambuco. She directed, among others, the short Homine: Costurando Identidades Urbanas (2003) and the documentary A Mesa Vermelha (2013).

TUDOR GIURGIU
Born in Cluj-Napoca, Rumania, in 1972. He majored in cinema in 1995, spent one year in Seattle, in the U.S. with a scholarship, and returned to his country in 1997 to be artistic director of a radio program. He directed his first short film The Guilties, in 1991. He has seven other short films and a documentary Hausmeister (2000) on his curriculum. Love Sick is his first fiction feature.

Tufan Tastan

Born in Ankara, Turkey, in 1988. He studied at theatre and communication departments at Ankara University. Tastan made some short movies, such as Bir Kelime (2013) and Showcase (2014). You Me Lenin is his first feature film.

TUSI TAMASESE
Born in Samoa in 1975. He studied at the New Zealand Film & Television School and got a master in screenwriting at the Victoria University. His first feature film, The Orator (2011), was awarded with a special mention at Horizons section of the Venice Film Festival. One Thousand Ropes is his second feature.

TWAFIK ABU WAEL
Born in 1976, in Um El-Fahem, a Palestinian-Israeli village. He graduated in Cinema at the Tel Aviv University. He directed his first short film, Bread, Hashish and the Moon in 1997. His first feature film was the documentary Waiting for Sallah El-Din (2001). Atash, his first fiction feature, was selected by the Director’s Fortnight at Cannes Festival 2004.

TZAHI GRAD
He was born in Jerusalem, in 1962. Itshak, his first real name, is also an actor that appeared in dozens of plays, television dramas and films. In 2001, he made his feature debut Giraffes, whose screenplay by him won the Script Award at the 2001 Jerusalem Film Festival and the First Prize at the 2003 Scottsdale International Film Festival, in USA. Foul Gesture is his second feature and won the Best Movie Award at the 2006 Haifa International Film Festival, in Israel.
