Born in 1976 in La Habana, Cuba. He started to collaborate with ICAIC in 1996, completing the documentary Making of the film Amor Vertical. His short fiction film Motos, written and shot in 2000, was the Instituto Superior de Arte de Cuba’s first student thesis project shot in 35 mm. The next film, Después de tanto tiempo, is a documentary about orator Luis Carbonell. Fuera de Liga, the film about baseball in Cuba, is his first feature length documentary.

Nasceu em Melbourne, Austrália em 1951. Realizou seus primeiros super-8 aos dezesseis anos. Sua estréia como diretor foi em 1982, com "The Plains of Heaven", que abocanhou o Prêmio do Júri e o Ducat d`Or, no Festival de Mannheim. Sempre em estreita colaboração com Ray Argall, considerado por ele como o melhor diretor de fotografia da Austrália. Seu próximo filme, "Isabelle Eberhardt", também foi rodado em Berlim.

He was born in Crete and studied Film in Greece and Paris, France. He wrote a book and worked as a filmmaking teacher. In 1975, he made his first feature film Zero Cell, which participated in several film festivals worldwide. In 1980, he directed A Homecoming Son. Cavafy (28th Mostra) was a box office record in Greece and nominated to the European Film Awards in 1997.

A Brazilian of Korean descent, she is an activist and filmmaker. She worked as a producer of Mostra from 1984 to 1989, when she moved to New York City. She has directed short and feature-length documentaries including Synthetic Pleasures (1995, 19th Mostra), Modulations (1998, 22nd Mostra), Beneath the Borqa in Afghanistan (2002), Battle for the Xingu (2009, 33rd Mostra), Cultures of Resistance (2010, 34th Mostra), The Suffering Grasses: When Elephants Fight, It Is the Grass That Suffers (2012, 36th Mostra), K2 and the Invisible Footman (2015, 39th Mostra) and Life Is Waiting: Referendum and Resistance in Western Sahara (2015, 39th Mostra). She participates in the project Cultures of Resistance, an activist network that brings together artists and change makers from around the world.

Iberê Carvalho
Born in Brasilia, in 1976, Carvalho studied anthropology and journalism and holds a master`s degree in film directing from Madrid, Spain. He directed, among others, the shorts Suicídio Cidadão (2003), Para Pedir Perdão (2009) and Procura-se (2010). He made his feature directing debut with O Último Cine Drive-in (2015). The Friendly Man is his second film.

Born in 1972 in Bilbao, Spain. He studied business management at Bentley College in Boston and completed various courses on script writing, direction and production. In 1996, he was responsible for the script, direction and production of Infinity (1996) his first short film. In 1997, he directed and produced Importe Exacto, his second short film. The script for Jaizkibel was completed in 1998, the year in which he wrote, directed and produced a further four short films: Black Rose, Half Moon, Silences, and 8, 9 and 10.

Born in Port Said, Egypt, in 1963. He is a graduate of the American University in Cairo in 1985, majoring in physics. He was a sound engineer and later worked at the British television station TV-Am, located in Cyprus, for a year. Since then, he has worked as a director, producer, and cameraman since 1987, and has also directed numerous documentaries for international TV channels. He directed the feature films Ithaki (2005), Eye of the Sun (2008), and Hawi (2010). Winter of Discontent is his fourth feature film.

She majored as film and television director in 1982, by the National Academy for Theatre and Cinema, in Bulgaria. She acted as assistant director for eight years until, in 1990, she wrote and directed the documentary Year of 1990, on the year following the fall of the Berlin Wall. She directed the documentaries Possible Distances (1992) and Stories for Murders (1993). Letter to America is her first feature.

Born in Mexico, in 1957, he was first a film actor, in the film Benjamin’s Woman (1991), by Carlos Carrera. As from then, he also worked as a script writer. In 1993, he directed a short film A Man Who Won`t Listen to Boleros (1993). The next year he directed his first feature, La Orilla de la Tierra that, like this Bedtime Fairy Tales for Crocodiles, was filmed in the village where he was born.

He was born in Asturias, Spain. In 1995, he moved to Madrid where he began his career as a film technician. Over 12 years, he took part in films by directors such as Pedro Almodóvar, Alex de la Iglesia and Agustín Díaz Yanes. In 2007, he put aside his career as a technician and went back to Asturias to dedicate himself entirely to his documentary project about Tom Zé. Made over three years, Tom Zé Liberated Astronaut is his first feature-length film.

Nasceu em 1954, na Ucrânia, e estudou cinema no Instituto de Artes Teatrais de Kiev. Seus dois primeiros curtas, "A Gaivota" (77) e "O Horizonte Prateado"(79), foram engavetados e Minaiev foi proibido de exercer a profissão. A União dos Cineastas da URSS o `reabilitou` em 87 e liberou os dois filmes mas os negativos já haviam sido destruídos. Seu longa de estréia, "Março Frio"(87), deu-lhe o Prêmio Especial da Quinzena dos Realizadores em Cannes. Depois, veio o "Primeiro Apartamento".

Born in Germany. As from 1987, he has occupied several positions in the DFFB, the German Film and Television Academy, in Berlin. Today, he is also a scriptwriter for TV. Born in 1962, in Lviv, he graduated from the Lviv Academy of Fine Arts (1984). As a creator of numerous visual art projects he has been involved in 25 international exhibitions held in Canada, the USA, South Korea, Latvia, Poland, Norway, Spain and Ukraine. His book Jacob Bohme was awarded the title Best Book at the Frankfurt Book Fair. One of his exhibitions in 1993 was held on the Mir space station. Podolchak’s works are exhibited in 26 galleries and museums worldwide. Las Meninas is his film debut.

Born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1955. She studied economics and filmmaking. My 20th Century (1989), her first feature film, won the Camera d`Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Ildikó also made the features Magic Hunter (1994, 18th Mostra), Simon, the Magician (1999) and On Body and Soul (2017), winner of Critics and the Ecumenical Jury prizes and the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Born in Tel-Aviv, Israel, in 1971. She has worked freelance as a director for Israeli television as from when she graduated with honors from the Tel-Aviv University of Cinema, five years ago. With her first documentary, Keep Not Silent, Ilil won several prizes amongst which: Israeli Academy Award for best documentary in 2004; prize from the public at the Gay and Lesbian Festival in Turim, and at the Melbourne International Film Festival 2005.

The Korean director was born in 1960 and graduated in English literature and theory of cinema by the Han Yang University. Her first film, a short film Promenade in the Rain (1994) was awarded prizes at the festivals of Seoul, Clermont Ferrand, Hong Kong, and Fribourg. Three Friends (1996), her first feature, won the Netpac prize for the best Asian film at the Pusan International Film Festival. Waikiki Brothers is her second feature.

From childhood, the brothers have been involved with film making. Their mother is a Spanish producer of Morocco films and the father, a director. Having acted in their father´s films and become thoroughly familiar with the workings of the film industry, in 1999, they made the first film on their own, a short film, Guilty. The second film, in 2001, No Secrets, was part of several European festivals. They also made a third film, Family Album. In 2003, the brothers pooled resources to make this, their first feature, Heaven´s Doors.

In 1998, she made her first short film Senhor Jerônimo. She made her first feature in 2002, the documentary O Fato Completo, ou À Procura de Alberto.

Born in Madrid, Spain, in 1975. After completing her studies in literature and film, Inés received a grant to pursue her training in filmmaking in the UK and, later, she specialized in film preservation in the USA. She has worked at different film archives and in cultural preservation projects. She directed, among others, the documentary El Río que Suena, Reflejo del Tiempo: Joaquín Díaz (2014). Film, the Living Record of Our Memory is her second feature film.

Born in Sweden in 1918. One of the greatest Swedish directors, Bergman had a traumatic childhood marked by physical and psychological abuse by his father, a Lutheran pastor. His inner demons were exorcised through his films and plays that explored sexual anxiety, loneliness and the search for the meaning of life. Directed feature films such as The Seventh Seal (1957), which won Jury Special Prize at the Cannes Film Festival; Wild Strawberries (1957); Cries and Whispers (1972, 17th Mostra), which won Oscar for best cinematography; Fanny & Alexander (1982, 32nd Mostra), which won four Oscars including best foreign language film, and Saraband (2003). His first movies were screened at a retrospective at the 32nd Mostra. He died in 2007 at the age of 89.

Oliver Rauch born in 1966, in Goslar im Harz (Germany). He studied comparative literature at the University of Berlin, and cinema and drama for TV in Potsdam. His first film in 1993 was a documentary Art as Transcript of the Lasting. In 1995, he made Drewitz - Or: The Grass Faster Than It Is Heard. His first short film was Courage (1998), in Super 16, followed by The Climber (1999). Oskar Sala - The Former Future of Sound is his first feature. Ingo Rudloff born in Bochum (Germany). From 1992 to 1995, he worked on several film projects with Director Markus Lenz. From 1991 to 1997, he studied psychology. His first short film was fiction, Night Comes, Night Goes (1992), co-directed with Lenz. He then made Evacuation (1994) and Rungolt - Homage to Mechthild von Leusch (1995). Oskar Sala - The Former Future of Sound is his first feature.

Born in Tennessee, USA, in 1965. He started the director career with the medium-length Vaudeville (1992). In the sequence, Sachs made the short movie Lady (1993). In 1996, he debuted in feature films direction with The Delta. Ira Sachs is also the director of others titles such as Forty Shades of Blue (2005), winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival; Married Life (2007); Keep the Lights On (2012), winner of the Teddy Award (focused on LGBT themes) at the Berlin International Film Festival; Love Is Strange (2014) and Little Men (2016).

Before directing The Girls` Room, Irene Turner made news in the film industry as producer of Billy`s Hollywood Screen Kiss, a film on the minorities and homosexual youngsters, by Tommy O`Haver, with whom she appeared in several short films. Before she started cinema, she acted for seven years as a producer in theater and in opera. She also directed short films. The Girls` Room is her second feature.

He worked on the European Commission for Information, Marketing & Innovation. In 1990, he joined the Open Channel, a consulting and production company for which he directed series for TV. He is also a professor on TV for universities. The Shamrock and the Swastika is his first film as director.

Born in New York in 1931, Winkler started his cinema career in 1967 producing the film Double Trouble starring Elvis Presley. In 1969, he won international acclaim after producing They Shoot Horses, Don´t They? which was nominated for nine Oscars that same year. He also produced New York, New York (1977), Raging Bull (1980), the five Rocky (1976) series movies and Good Fellas (1990). As a director, his first feature film was Guilty by Suspicion (1991), starring Robert DeNiro and Martin Scorsese, which was selected for the Cannes Festival. He also directed Night and the City (1992) and At First Sight (1999).

Ishtar Yasin was born in Moscow on June 15, 1968. Between 1979 and 1984 she studied at the Colegio Conservatorio Castella in San José, Costa Rica. After two years at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts at the University of Costa Rica she moved to Moscow in 1985 to study acting at the State Cinema Institute of Moscow (VGIK). In 1992, Ishtar Yasin founded Teatro Ambar, an independent theater group for which she has written several productions, which she has co-directed and acted in. Apart from founding the Salamandra theater group in 1994, she set up Astarté Produciones in 1998. That same year she directed her first video, Cages. The Path is her first feature-length film.

Hristov is also director of the TV movie My Friends Call Me Uncle (2006) and of the features Footsteps in the Sand (2010) and Losers (2015). He is also an acting professor and author of the book The Actor in Cinema.

IVES ROSENFELD
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1980, he graduated in cinema from Universidade Federal Fluminense. For over ten years he worked as a sound recorder in films like Naked Eye (2013, 37th Mostra), by Joel Pizzini. Wrote and directed the short film The Day I Did Not Kill Bertrand (2008). Hopefuls is his first feature film.

Born in Trenčín, Slovakia, in 1980. She studied at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. In 2012, she directed her feature debut Made in Ash. She is also the director of the short Discoboy (2013) and of the documentary for TV Blues for Single Mothers (2014). Little Harbour is her second feature film.

IVO M. FERREIRA
Born in Portugal in 1975. He studied at the London Film School and started his career with the short movie O Homem da Bicicleta (1997), held during a trip he made to China. He directed the documentary Vai com o Vento (2009) and the feature films Em Volta (2002), April Showers (2009) and Letters from War (2016, 40 th Mostra).

Nasceu em 1918 em Moravské Budejovice. Antes do seu primeiro longa, em 1957, foi assistente e co-roteirista em muitos filmes tchecos. "Hubert, o Almofadinha" é seu 17¦ longa-metragem.

IVO TRAJKOV
Produtor, roteirista e diretor, Ivo Trajkov nasceu em 1965, na Macedônia. Formou-se pela FAMU, de Praga, em 1992. Realizou diversos médias e curtas antes de estrear na direção de longas, com The Cannary Connection, em 1993. Três anos depois fez o documentário Such a Normal Marriage, sobre casamento entre homossexuais. O Passado é seu terceiro longa.

IVONA JUKA
She was born in Zagreb, Croatia. She studied acting at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb and graduated in 2001. The same year she enrolls the film and TV-directing at the same Academy. She is active in cartoon making, writes scripts and directs for radio and television commercials, and works as an assistant director. In 2005, she was selected to participate at the Berlin Talent Campus. In 2006, she made two short films, Editing and Behind the Door. Facing the Day is her first feature film.

Was born in Santa Catarina, Brazil, in 1975, and started his career as a stage actor. Graduated in Cinema and completed his master’s degree in Education in Rio de Janeiro. Directed the short films Illuminations (2003), Edilmar (2005) and The Cleansing of Bonfim – From Bahia to New York (2009). Beyond the Light is his first feature film.

Born in 1976, in Greifswald, former West Germany. She studied political science (Jewish and Islamic studies) at Freie Universität, in Berlin, Germany. Since the year 2000, she has worked as freelance writer for various television channels, in Tel Aviv and in Gaza, in Jordan, in Italy, and in Poland. Her films include Reportage Neo-Nazis in Germany (2001) and the short film, Moskobiye (2004). The Raging Grannies Anti-Occupation Club is her first feature.
