In the 15th century, France and England fight in the Hundred Year’s War for the French throne. Young Joane believes that she was chosen by God to lead the French army. But she is captured by the English and now face a trial. Joan denies to accept the charges of heresy and witchcraft and stays true to her mission.

Born in Bailleul, France, in 1958. From Dumont, the Mostra exhibited the features The Life of Jesus (1997), winner of the International Jury Prize at the 21st Mostra and the Caméra d’Or at Cannes Film Festival; Humanity (1999), winner of the Grand Prix at Cannes; Flandres (2006), also a Grand Prix winner; Outside Satan (2011); Lil’ Quinquin (2014) and Coincoin and the Extra-Humans (2018). He also made Twentynine Palms (2003), Hadewijch (2009), Camille Claudel 1915 (2013), Slack Bay (2016), Jeannette: The Childhood of Joan of Arc (2017) and Jeanne (2019, 43rd Mostra).
