Daniel lives with his grandmother and, after one year of high school, has to go to live with his mother in the south of France. She is a seamstress living in a tiny apartment with her lover Jose, a Spanish farmworker. Daniel would like to continue school, but his mother cannot afford it, so she sends him to work as an apprentice in a moped repair shop. Daniel wiles away his time in the shop, and learns about girls from the other boys in town. When he returns to visit his grandmother next year, it is obvious that he has grown up faster than his old friends.

My Little Loves was digitally restored and remastered into 4K by Les Films du Losange, with the support of CNC and the contribution of La Cinémathèque Suisse. The image restoration was done by L’Immagine Ritrovata/Éclair Classics, under the supervision of Jacques Besse. Sound restauration was signed by Léon Rousseau - L.E. Diapason.

Jean Eustache

Born in Pessac, Gironde, France, in 1938. He grew into a working class family and worked in the railroad service prior to becoming a filmmaker. He became a member of the Cahiers du cinéma coterie in the late fifties and appeared as an actor in Jean-Luc Godard’s Week End (1967). He edited Luc Moullet’s Une Aventure de Billy le Kid (1971). One of the most important post-Nouvelle Vague French filmmakers, Eustache made in his short career films like The Virgin of Pessac (1968), The Pig (1970), Numéro zéro (1971), The Mother and the Whore (1973), My Little Loves (1974) and A Dirty Story (1977). Eustache died in Paris in 1981.
