Documentary on former Peruvian president Alberto Fujimori who, after ten years in power, fled Peru at the end of the year 2000 and sought asylum in Japan, midst severe accusations of misuse of public funds, assassination, and corruption. In January, 2004, Fujimori agreed to give an interview on his tumultuous government. The result is a revealing profile of a modern dictator. The film also explores a series of temporary events that defined Fujimori`s government, including the meteoric ascent from university professor to president, his relationship with a spy, Vladimiro Montesinos, and the outcome of the takeover of the Japanese embassy in Lima by terrorists. Misuse of public funds and buying over parliament leaders are news today within the political crisis also experienced in Brazil.

ELLEN PERRY

Graduated from the University for Cinema and TV in South Carolina, Perry directed her first documentary in the year 2000. Entitled Great Wall Across the Yangtze, the film broaches the megalomaniac project of the Chinese to build a dam on the Yangtze river. Highly commended by critics and by the public, she took part in several festivals and was awarded prizes at the Berkeley Festival. The director was four years making The Fall of Fujimori.
