AGNÈS VARDA

Born in Brussels, Belgium, in 1928 and settled in France. She is considered one of the forerunners of the Nouvelle Vague. Her films are notable for their homemade production style and for their search for a personal language. Her most important films are Cleo from 5 to 7 (1962), Le Bonheur (1965), Daguerréotypes (1976), One Sings, the Other Doesn’t (1977, 2nd Mostra), Vagabond (1985), Jane B. by Agnès V. (1988, 13rd Mostra), Jacquot de Nantes (1991, 16th Mostra), The Gleaners & I (2000) and The Beaches of Agnès (2008). Varda will receive the Humanity Award at the 41st Mostra.
