The documentary investigates the aesthetical, political and existential trajectory of Antonio Pitanga, an actor who was directed by great filmmakers —like Glauber Rocha, Cacá Diegues and Walter Lima Jr.— and was distinctive in some of the most artistic restlessness moments of Brazilian cinema.

BETO BRANT

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1964. He graduated in cinema from the FAAP and began his career directing music videos for bands like Titãs. He directed short films such as Aurora (1987), Dov’è Meneghetti? (1989, 14th Mostra) and Jó (1993, 17th Mostra), before releasing his first feature, Belly Up (1997). He also directed Friendly Fire (1998, 22nd Mostra), Delicate Crime (2005, 29th Mostra), Stray Dog (2007), Love According to B. Schianberg (2010, 33rd Mostra), I’d Receive the Worst News from Your Beautiful Lips (2011, 35th Mostra) and Pitanga (2016), winner of Critics Prize for Best Brazilian Feature at 40th Mostra. Brant integrates the Jury of this 43rd Mostra.
CAMILA PITANGA
CAMILA PITANGA

Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1977. As an actress, she did various soap operas, such as Paraíso Tropical (2007), Lado a Lado (2012), Babilônia (2015) and Velho Chico (2016). On cinema, she starred films like The Sign of Chaos (2003, 27th Mostra), by Rogerio Sganzerla, Noel (2006, 30th Mostra), by Ricardo van Steen, I’d Receive the Worst News from Your Beautiful Lips (2011, 35th Mostra), by Beto Brant and Renato Ciasca, and Rio 2096, a Story of Love and Fury (2012, 36th Mostra), by Luiz Bolognesi. Pitanga is her debut as a director.
