MÁRIO PEIXOTO
MÁRIO PEIXOTO

Probably born in Belgium in 1908 to Brazilian parents. A writer, poet and filmmaker, he joined the Chaplin Club, a cinema discussion group, in 1928. In Paris, he saw a photograph by André Kertész that served as inspiration for Limite (1931), one of the most important films of Brazilian cinema. Peixoto tried to make other films, without success. He also wrote books such as Mundéu (1931) and O Inútil de Cada Um (1933). He died in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 at the age of 83.
