On the day of his wedding, the financial difficulties of a lower middle-class young man in São Paulo interfere with the festivities. He is forced to sell his most valuable possession, a bicycle, in order to pay for the wedding party, the tailor and the honeymoon.

ROBERTO SANTOS

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1928. He began working for Vera Cruz studios and made his debut as a director with The Grand Moment (1958, 38th Mostra). Among his films are The Hour and Turn of Augusto Matraga (1965, 38th Mostra), As Cariocas (1966, 39th Mostra), O Homem Nu (1968), O Anjo Mau (1971), Vozes do Medo (1972) and As Três Mortes de Solano (1978). His last film, Quincas Borba (1987), was screened at the 11th Mostra. He died in São Paulo in 1987 at the age of 59.
