María is a forty-something single mother of three who is never alone, takes care of everyone, barely sleeps, and works too much. Augustín is her forgetful father who is senile and aware of it. María’s trip to the social security office reveals that she is too poor to put her father in a retirement home, yet too wealthy to qualify for benefits. Her cruel solution is to abandon her father at a square, leaving Augustín to wait for her delayed return.

Studied Cinema in Mexico City. His feature debut, the thriller The Zone (2007, 31st Mostra), won Best Debut at the Venice Film Festival. The Desert Within (2008), his second feature, was exhibited at the 32nd Mostra and was the closing film at the Critics Week at Cannes International Film Festival.
