A documentary dedicated to Tarkovsky’s visit to the Russian town of Ivanovo - a fact that is practically unknown - where director Evgeny Borzov works; Borzov has also directed another fi lm about the filmmaker, Andrey Tarkovsky: The Collector of Dreams (2011). Borzov interviews the organizers of that visit, the purpose of which was the shooting of The Mirror (1974). The fi lm looks back at photographs and documents from that period and brings together Tarkovsky’s meditations on cinema, taken from his books Sculpting in Time and Diaries.

EVGENY BORZOV

Born in Ivanovo, Russia. He lectured on modern information technologies at Iowa State University. He directed the documentaries The Reflected Time (1998), Russian America (2004), Magnetism of Memory (2006), Alexander Nevsky: the Silver Ring of Russia (2009) and Andrey Tarkovsky: The Collector of Dreams (2010), the latter being selected for the 36th Mostra. Over the last decade he has been actively involved in directing the International Andrey Tarkovsky Memorial Day, traditionally held in Ivanovo in April each year to remember the outstanding filmmaker and appreciate his artistic legacy.
