The routine for Neapolitan fishermen who decide to try life on the coast of Sicily is not easy. Even there, fish do not exist in abundance. To revert this situation, Salvatore, the captain of the boat, decides to venture into African territorial waters where the fish are abundant, even though he runs the risk of losing his gear should he be arrested by the coastal police. It is night. Salvatore, Franco, Samir, and Giovanni are about to try their luck once more. During the fishing expedition they are intercepted, the police fire, and they manage to get away. The risk they ran causes them to rethink their lives. Franco would like to immigrate, with his wife Rosa, to the U.S. Salvatore would like to return to Naples, even if he is to face the local mafia. The options left to them are few and uncertain.
