Rúbia, Francisco, Miguel, Rita, Rosa, Rosalia, and Tójó live the night the same way they live life: intensely. In a strip-tease joint named Imperatriz in the city of Porto, these characters cross each other, they leave marks on each other, with no amendment. They poison each other, they cure each other. They are hungry one for the other, and they give all. They are on the very brink of love - absolute love. And, although it is dark, one can see the neon glow. There is something about daybreak that imposes hope. The certainty of a cure is lodged in the present time that is excessive and apparently indifferent to the future.

RAQUEL FREIRE

Born in Porto in 1973, she studied the history and aesthetics of cinema and the history and aesthetics of Portuguese cinema with the Language Department of the University of Coimbra (1996/97). She was co-founder and partner manager of Terrafilmes audiovisual producers. She made several videos for theater plays of the Útero company as from 1999. In 2001 she made Rasganço. Poison Heals is her second film.
