Bruno Stein feels he is at the end of his life. Time has passed, and he cannot integrate with the family. His granddaughters ignore him, his wife no longer stands for much to him, his son is always traveling, and there is the disturbing presence of his daughter-in-law Valéria. He tries to become involved with work with sculpture at the brickworks, but nothing more will motivate him. Until a sudden encounter awakens in him once more the will to live. For a fervent protestant such as he is, however, there is the weight of moral and religious standards. Bruno and Valéria fall in love. While they discover passion, both struggle with all their might to stifle it. Based on the novel by the same name by Gaucho writer Charles Kiefer, published in 1986.
