Using the Musical Experimentation Workshop organized by Brazilian musician Tom Zé in Asturias, Spain, as its starting point, the film presents a retrospective of his musical discoveries and his continuing development of musical experimentation in the `70s. By piecing together historical archives and showing his performances on stages all around Brazil and Europe as well time spent in the recording studio, the film sheds light on this artist’ original creative methodology.

ÍGOR IGLESIAS GONZÁLEZ

He was born in Asturias, Spain. In 1995, he moved to Madrid where he began his career as a film technician. Over 12 years, he took part in films by directors such as Pedro Almodóvar, Alex de la Iglesia and Agustín Díaz Yanes. In 2007, he put aside his career as a technician and went back to Asturias to dedicate himself entirely to his documentary project about Tom Zé. Made over three years, Tom Zé Liberated Astronaut is his first feature-length film.
