A village in Protestant northern Germany. in 1913, on the eve of World War I. The story of the children and teenagers of a church and school choir run by the village schoolteacher, and their families: the Baron, the steward, the pastor, the doctor, the midwife, the tenant farmers. Strange accidents occur and gradually take on the character of a punishment ritual. What is hidden behind these events?

MICHAEL HANEKE

Austrian filmmaker, was born in 1942. He studied philosophy, psychology and theater in Vienna. Since 1970, he has been a stage and film director. His main movies are The Seventh Continent (1989, 13th Mostra), Benny`s Video (1992, 16th Mostra), Funny Games (1997, 21st Mostra), Code Unknown (2000, 24th Mostra), The Piano Teacher (2001, 38th Mostra), Time of the Wolf (2003, 27th Mostra), Caché (2005, 29th Mostra), The White Ribbon (2009, 33rd Mostra), winner of the Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival, and Amour (2012), which also won the Golden Palm and the Academy Awards for Best Foreign Film.
