The Dead Girl`s Feast narrates the story of Santinho, a young man who has been exalted to the position of a saint in a remote riverine community of the upper Amazonas state, after performing a “miracle” upon the suicide of his own mother. The film seeks to be an intimate picture of the ones who are involved in this sect and of the infinite human capacity of “fabricating” faith and seeking for some sense in the horrifying experience of death.

MATHEUS NACHTERGAELE

An actor with a great deal of participation in theater, TV series, and cinema. He was part of countless among the national films today such as O Que É Isso Companheiro? (directed by Bruno Barreto), Anahy de Lãs Missiones (Sérgio Silva), Central do Brasil (Walter Salles), Kenoma (Eliane Caffé, 22nd Mostra), Castelo Rá- Tim-Bum (Cao Hamburger, 31st Mostra), O Primeiro Dia (Walter Salles), Gêmeas (Andrucha Waddington), Cidade de Deus (Fernando Meirelles), Baixio das Bestas (Cláudio Assis), and Árido Movie (Lírio Ferreira), among others. He was awarded several prizes for his activities in cinema. The Dead Girls Feast is his first film as director. The film was selected for Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Festival, 2008.
