In the early sixties, the famous Soviet director Mikhail Kalatozov, with a team of 200, filmed a superproduction, Soy Cuba, in Cuba. The film was intended to be a weapon for propaganda to divulge the Cuban revolution and the union between two socialist peoples. However, it was ill-received in both countries and ignored after its première in Havana and Moscow. It remained unknown by the public in the West, until, in the nineties, it was rediscovered by Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola. Actors and technicians who were part of the making of the film were interviewed for the Brazilian documentary. Passages from the original film are introduced alternately with the interviews, allowing an artistic re-evaluation.
