Ikeya, the owner of a small glassworker shop on the verge of bankruptcy spends day and night polishing enormous lenses that are to be used in a new astronomical telescope. He meets Yoko who, like him, is thinking in terms of suicide. Yoko?s father is also a glassworker shopkeeper and meets Yojiro, Ikeya?s shop manager, working to save the glassworker shop. Yoko is secretly in love with Yojiro, but he is completely unaware of this, busy as he is. Yojiro is to discover that the lenses Ikeya is polishing are worth millions, and this may cast a different slant on things.

Born on November 23, 1954, in Tokyo, the second generation of a Nippon/Korean family. An actor and director, he made his first feature in 2002 - Through the Night, for which he was awarded the prize for best first-time director from the Japanese Association of Film Directors.
