The story of two young gypsies in the suburban area of Scampia, Naples, taken by Camorra feuds, as they meet with an ex-boss who is trying to get on the straight and narrow, besides with a gang led by a young and upcoming boss of the winning clan. The situations both within and outside the gypsy site all share the same common denominator: they tell the story of lives on the fringes of society and the inherent desperation entailed, but with the vital strength so typical of those who have to earn their living while dealing with the harsh laws of street life. On a daily basis they see their dignity crushed in their fight for survival. The only option for a better life is to move away.

CARLO LUGLIO

He was born in Naples (Italy) in 1967. In 1993, he graduated in History of Films at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Bologna. He worked as an assistant director for Marco Risi and Ricky Tognazzi and directed two short films, Il Cinema Salato (2000) and the documentary Grieving Canaries (2003). His first feature film was the awarded North Cape (2003). Beneath the Same Moon is his second feature and got a Special Mention by the Jury at the 2006 Annecy CinemaItalien Festival (France) and also the Golden Award at the 2006 Cairo International Film Festival.
