Para homenagear o centenário do cinema, o diretor iraniano Mohsen Makhmalbaf resolveu fazer um documentário sobre pessoas que tentam entrar para esse mundo de sonhos. Ele publicou em um jornal do Teerã um pequeno anúncio, requisitando atores para um filme. Cinco mil candidatos se apresentam, provocando um tumulto inesperado.Makhmalbaf recebeu o Prêmio da Crítica da 19ª Mostra pelo conjunto da sua obra. O filme e o vídeo "Salve o Cinema" fazem parte da ?Coleção Mostra Internacional de Cinema.

MOHSEN MAKHMALBAF

Born in Tehran, Iran, in 1957. He was arrested for opposing the shah’s regime when he was still a teenager. In 1995, at the 19th Mostra, Makhmalbaf was honored with a retrospective that presented eight films, among then The Peddler (1987), The Actor (1993) and Hello Cinema (1995). He also participated of the Mostra in other occasions, exhibiting his most important works like Gabbeh (1996), A Moment of Innocence (1996), The Silence (1998), Kandahar (2001), Scream of the Ants (2006,) and The Gardner (2012). In the 35th edition of the Mostra, the filmmaker returned to São Paulo to present his daughter Hana Makhmalbaf’s film Green Days (2009), same year he received the Leon Cakoff Prize.
