A fable on the music industry based on the story of the Judas Priest heavy metal group. In Pennsylvania, Chris Cole (Mark Wahlberg) aspires to be a rock star. During the day, he has a job fixing xerox machines. When night comes, he becomes the leader of the Blood Pollution band that produces covers in imitation of the celebrated Steel Dragon band. Unexpectedly, the other members of the group suddenly expel Chris from the band. Although he has the support of his girlfriend Emily (Jennifer Aniston), he is devastated, since he was the founder of Blood Pollution. His depressive state, however, does not last for long. To his surprise, he is invited to substitute for the vocalist in Steel Dragon and becomes a rock star from one day to the next. Suddenly, Chris has in his hands all that he has always dreamed of. He is soon to realize, however, that being a pop star is not all and that life can be even more exciting.

STEPHEN HEREK

Born in 1958 in San Antonio (Texas). He graduated from the University of Texas in Austin. All of his films are made in the old Panavision format. He made his first film Critters, in 1986. Other features that were a great commercial success include The Three Musketeers (1993), and 101 Dalmatians (1996). Rock Star (2001) is his tenth feature.
