Raja – a Morrocco orphan – lives in the house of some cousins. She is in love with Youssef, who rescued her from the tyranny of a pimp. What she most desires to have is an honest job. Frédéric is a rich, idle Frenchman, fond of living out his erotic whims. He is drawn to Raja and eventually hires her. However, she can not live up to his amorous expectations, and he begins to think he is being made a fool of. A lack of communication between them leads to various misunderstandings. She goes back to her miserable existence and to her fiancé. Frédéric is afraid of losing her, taked her on once more and also hires her fiancé as a driver. He goes to the extent of seeing to it that the two are married. Raja feels humiliated and numb with the situation that involves feelings, money, and, mainly, the sensation that nothing is going to change in her life.
