Emir Kusturica?s second feature for cinema and a reconstruction of the tempestuous fifties in Yugoslavia, awarded the Golden Palm at the Cannes Festival in 1985. The film is told from the point of view of a boy of 6 whose father, employed by the Ministry of Labor, is arrested by the repressive political system of the times. The boy’s dream is a voyage through space far from the sad reality on earth. The feature was included in the selection for the 9th Mostra. The series, in three episodes, is being shown for the first time in Brazil.

EMIR KUSTURICA

Born in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia, in 1955. He studied film direction in Prague in the 70`s, and comeback to Sarajevo to work at local television. The 25th Mostra made a retrospective of his films in 2001. He directed, among others, the feature films Do You Remember Dolly Bell? (1981), When Father Was Away on Business (1985, Golden Palm at Cannes), Time of the Gypsies (1989), Arizona Dreams (1993), Underground (1995, Golden Palm at Cannes), Black Cat, White Cat (1998), Life is a Miracle (2004) and Promise Me This (2007).
