One of the most popular dishes in Brazil, pizza is used by the director to show the City of São Paulo, its traditions, busy atmosphere, and social diversity - because São Paulo is the capital of pizza. Pizzarias are everywhere, from the outskirts in Heliópolis to well-heeled districts such as Higienópolis. A muzzarella pizza can cost R,00 in Jardim √Çngela and R$ 48,00 in Granja Vianna where tables must be reserved in advance. Pizzaiolo today is northeastern. The documentary focuses on traditional pizzarias with recipes from the venerable "mammas", to the new establishments with inventive flavors such as chocolate, jerk beef, egg-plant, and many others.

UGO GIORGETTI

Born in São Paulo, producer and director Ugo Giorgetti has had much experience in advertising. He moved into fiction films with Quebrando a Cara (1987), Festa (1989, 18th Mostra) and Saturday (1994). His film Boleiros (1998) won him the award for best director at the Amiens Film Festival in France. He won the APCA Prize with O Príncipe (2002). Mostra also screened his documentary Pizza (2005), the short film Paredes Nuas (2009) and the narrative feature Solo (2009).
