Phillippa Paccard is newly out of a tragedy. Her husband was assassinated by a drug dealer, but police investigations do not go ahead. She then decides to take justice into her own hands and plans an attack against the assassin. Her plans go awry, and she ends up killing four innocent people. Now it is she who is in the hands of the law. At her side, she will have a policeman encharged with accompanying her in her statements and who falls in love with her during the proceedings. Together they draw up plans for escape and eventually become fugitives. But how long will love last under these circumstances? The film is the first part of a trilogy written by Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski, who died in 1996. The coming episodes will be Purgatory and Hell.
