In 1999, Ernesto Nava completed 85 years old. With his family, he felt he was old enough to tell a secret that, by fear and by respect, he had kept for all his life. To do this, he remembers that when he was eight years old, his mother told him that he was actually son of Pancho Villa, but he should never tell this to anyone. When he was 82 years old, after passing through the Bravo River, Nava decided to come back to Mexico to discover who his dad was. Paradoxically, the man was a caudillo murdered in 1923, who nowadays, from his tomb and with his mutilated head, represents one of the moral icons of Latin America. It is Pancho Villa’s history, told by who actually knew him. The film was considered the Best Documentary at the International Latino Film Festival at San Francisco Bay Area, the Best Non-Fiction Film and Best Photography at the Festival de la Memoria (Mexico), the Best Project at the Festival de Santiago Álvarez (Cuba), and won an Honor Mention (José Rovirosa Award) from the UNAM Film Library (Mexico).
