Aviva Victor is a girl of 12 who dearly wishes to have a lot of children of her own. She gets pregnant, but her parents oblige her to have an abortion. Even so, Aviva does not give up on her intent and runs away from home to try and attain her objective. On this, her journey, she is to come face to face with the inexorable American morality that is to afford Aviva an unforgettable experience of life. Abortion, persecution by religious groups of doctors who perform abortions, early pregnancy, pedophilia, and religious fundamentalism are the background to this unusual story where eight completely different actresses play the role of the main character.

Nasceu em Newark, EUA, e ganhou notoriedade internacional em 1995, ao estrear na direção de longas-metragens com Welcome to the Dollhouse, filme vencedor do Grande Prêmio do Festival de Sundance. Dirigiu seus primeiros curtas-metragens quando ainda na Universidade de Nova York (NYU): Feelings, Babysitter e Schatt´s Last Shot. Ao se formar, realizou outro curta, How I Became a Leading Artistic Figure in New York City´s East Village Cultural Landscape
