Odd Horten has driven the same train route every day for so long that the rest of his life has become a routine of comfortable rituals. But the time has come for the 67-year-old engineer to retire after forty years of dutiful service. His ordely, solitary existence is about to give way to a future of perplexing questions. How could Horten get himself in such an awkward situation when he should be celebrating his retirement?

BENT HAMER

Born in Sandefjord, Norway, in 1956. Graduated in film theory and literature at the University of Stockholm, Sweden. Directed documentaries, commercials and short films. Made his debut as a director of feature films with Eggs (1995), followed by movies such as Water Easy Reach (1998), Kitchen Stories (2003), awarded with the Best Director Prize at the 27th Mostra, Factotum (2005, 29th Mostra), O’Horten (2007, 32nd Mostra) and Home for Christmas (2010). All these films were shown in homage to Hamer at the 34th Mostra.
