Documentary on the phenomenon of electroacoustic music by Oskar Sala. He was born in Berlin, studied with Paul Hindemith and was assistant to the famous Dr Friedrich Trautwein who, in the thirties, invented the Trautonium, a single musical instrument with the capacity to produce an infinity of electronic sounds. In 1930, he took part in the first public concert with use of the new machine, together with Hindemith and Rudolph Schmidt. “Triostucke para Três Trautoniums”. The following year, he was soloist for the piece “Konzertstuck fur Trautonium mit Begleitung des Streichorchesters”, by Hindemith. From 1949 to 1952, Oskar devoted himself to perfecting the instrument and produced the famous Mixtur-Trautonium. He registered his patents in Germany, France, and in the United States. Oskar composed a great deal for the Mixtur-Trautonium. His compositions include sound tracks for radio and cinema, including the cries of the birds in Hitchcock’s classic. In the year 2000, he was 90. He is the only person in the world who knows how to operate and to perform on a Mixtur-Trautonium.
