Alice’s House

Alice is a manicure in a beauty parlor, managing as she can. She believes this is her fate. At the age of 40, she shares the house with her husband, taxi-driver Lindomar, their three spirited young children and her mother Jacira who is given to resorting to spells and magic to try and solve problems. After 20 years of marriage neither Lindomar nor Alice expects a great deal of emotion as a couple. The couple is at that phase in which not even an effort towards seduction on the part of Alice, will work any longer. On the contrary it is a reason for even greater despondency. And things can always get worse. The film was awarded a special Prize from the Jury for actress Carla Ribas at the Miami Festival, was considered Best Film at the Freiburg Festival in Switzerland and Special Prize from the Jury, Actress and Critics at the Guadalajara Festival in Mexico, all of them in 2007.
