Secret Ballot

A ballot box falls from heaven above attached to a parachute. This surreal event is to transform the life of a soldier on duty on a deserted beach. To his amazement, the “owner” of the ballot box arrives forthwith - an employee from the electoral courts in charge of collecting the votes in that community. That day will be in no way like any of the others. The soldier is to accompany her in her jeep. By the end of the day, he will realize that an election can be more interesting than he might imagine. “Secret Ballot does not pretend to be realistic, but rather a comedy of the absurd describing elections within contemporary reality. I wished to make it clear to the public that this is a surreal, satyrical representation of a socio-political theme”, says director Babak Payami.
