A waitress hears news over the radio that there is a killer on the loose in the city. Soon after, she hears a noise and is brutally attacked by Max who apologizes to the viewer for having recorded something about the rest of the film, but who promises to show the highlights of his career. He is the real main character in the story, a serial killer trying to make an intelligent film about murder, killing people before the cameras, but taking care to mix victims, weapons, and locations so as not to be caught by the police. Most of the images are taken by his assistant, a homeless individual hired exclusively for this purpose. Victims are chosen at random and include housewives, business people, drunks, retired persons, teenagers and others, in the majority of cases in their own homes. Max acts like a critical egocentrical artist who knows how to appreciate the worth of his own handiwork.
