Nine peasant women living in a village in the mountains in Turkey, work hard inside the house and out in the fields. To get more out of life, they plan to write and to stage a play based on their everyday life. They meet in the school where they had previously scarcely set a foot, and begin to write their stories. Observed by the men in the village, they write a play The Outcries of Women. The documentary describes all of this process and how the women evolve during all of this time.

PELIN ESMER

Born in 1972, in Istambul. She majored in sociology at the Bogazici University and was assistant director to a number of Turkish and foreign projects. Her first film, The Collector, 2002, won her an award for best documentary at the Rome Independent Film Festival. She taught at the Kadir Has University Department of Radio and Television. The Play is her first feature.
