Phantom

Tormented by desire, Sérgio has built himself a world made to measure. He spends his days between a room for lodgings, sexual encounters with other men, and work as a road-sweeper on the north side of Lisbon. Part of his life, also, are Lorde, the guard-dog at the garbage dump; Fátima, a colleague at work; a policeman keeping an eye on him; and the captain of a football team for whom he nurtures ambiguous feelings. All seems normal, until the day the phantom of his dreams materializes. He awakens obsessed with this new love. He endeavors to win him, but is refuted. He then seeks refuge in chaos, in the remains of a world to which he no longer belongs. "This is fiction on the brutality of desire and impotence in face of rejection. He would have liked once more to take up the intimate gestures of a body in face of the impossibility of divided love", said director João Pedro Rodrigues.
