Wilson is an ex-convict, newly released from prison, on his way to Los Angeles to find who killed his daughter. However, he is soon aware that he is completely out of place, and can understand nothing whatsoever of the culture that he meets with in the city. He is assisted in his investigations by Ed, another ex-convict. Together they come to the conclusion that the girl was having an affair with a records producer by the name of Valentine, at this time in the midst of an affair with Adhara, a young woman. An older actress, Elaine, who also knew the girl who was murdered, makes Wilson look on his own faults as a father. "Limey" is slang for an English sailor, thus called because they were obliged to imbibe vast doses of lemon juice (lime juice) to prevent contamination from the horrors of scurvy (a disease caused by a dearth of vitamin C, and characterized by a tendency to hemorrhage). In Soderbergh?s film, however, the main character struggles to escape from another type of scourge: that which falls on innocents.

STEVEN SODERBERGH

American director, born in the State of Georgia in 1963, who surprised the film community in 1989 when he won the Gold Palm at the Cannes Festival at the youthful age of 26, for his sex, lies, and videotapes, one of the successes at the 13th Mostra. He began making films when he was 13 years old, in Super-8, under the influence of his father. In 1986, he won a Grammy in the Long Duration Videoclip category, with 9012 Live for the Yes rock group. The 16th Mostra (1992) saw his feature Kafka.
