French director Arnaud Desplechin makes a documental registration of his father who has just sold the family house. It is located in Roubaix, also visited for the last time. The emptying is the occasion to open drawers, browse old photos and read ancient post. The father, surrounded by sons and grandsons, chooses his moment to speak of his own mother Thérèse, who passed away when he was 18 months old. Robert Desplechin has no memory from her, and yet he seems to know her very well. The feature won the Doc/it - Provincia Autonoma di Trento Award at the 2007 Venice Film Festival.

ARNAUD DESPLECHIN

Born in Roubaix, France, in 1960. Director, producer and screenwriter, he started his career directing the medium-length film La Vie des Morts (1991). Also directed movies such as The Sentinel (1992) and My Sex Life... or How I Got Into an Argument (1996), the latter responsible for revealing a generation of French actors —notably Mathieu Amalric and Emmanuelle Devos. His filmography also includes Kings and Queen (2004, 29th Mostra), L’aimée (2007, 31st Mostra), and A Christmas Tale (2008, 32nd Mostra). My Golden Days was screened at the Directors` Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival.
