A centenary tribute to Camargo Garnieiri (1907 -1993), one of the most important Brazilian composers. His work and creative process are analyzed via interviews with some of the current most expressive composers. The film also brings together historic interviews with Guarnieri himself (from the family archive), excerpts of piano lessons, fragments of footage from three concertos for violin and orchestra – including concerto nº 1, which hasn’t been played in over 60 years – as well as a conversation between conductor Lutero Rodrigues and violinist Luiz Filipe on these works’ renditions.

CARLOS DE MOURA RIBEIRO MENDES

Born on July 13, 1955, in Santos, São Paulo. He majored in physics by the University of São Paulo and turned to music in 1979, composing and performing in universities. In 1985, he began film making as assistant director to his brother Odorico Mendes. A director of publicity cinema, he was awarded several prizes. He is also a theater producer. A Odisséia Musical de Gilberto Mendes is his first film as director - a feature on his father.
