The year of 1989 is almost over. The setting is Germany immediately after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Writer Hanna Flanders is deeply shaken by recent events. At the age of 68, she has always regarded the Democratic Republic of Germany as the best place in the world. Without thinking twice about it, Hanna decides to settle in Berlin, the center of a new German reality. In coming to terms with the reunification, she hopes, also, to rebuild her life. In an extremely painful odyssey, she is to come face to face with a society undergoing swift changes. Realizing she will not be able to keep up with the new pace, the writer is, eventually, headed for a catastrophic end. The story is inspired in the life of the Director?s mother, outlining the psychological profile of an extremely sensitive person who must face up to radical change within a social context.
