Nor His Donkey

Inspired on the tenth commandment (“Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour?s wife... nor anything that is thy neighbour’s”), Jos de Putter, winner of many awards asks: Is this possible in our days, in a world driven by desire? To establish a link between three different stories about desire, he selected a donkey, a Biblical animal par excellence. First the spectator is taken to the home of the director’s mother. She has recently lost her husband and receives a letter from a former admirer, now a husband in potential. In fact, he has waited 45 years for her. The second story centers on a successful manager of a shopping center who inexplainably begins to steal objects from the shops. When she is at last discovered, she commits suicide, leaving her son all of the things “that she has stolen for him”. The last case is in the United States, where a group of lunatic Americans, former NASA employees, prepare for a new and better experience of life. On Mars.
