A couple, Gilles and Germaine, are close to an abyss. Their eldest daughter is dead. They then pack up the most essential of their belongings, load these into an old pick-up, and leave Belgium with their children: two teenagers and a pair of very young twins. Germaine wants to start life anew in the mountains where she was born in the Spanish Pyrenees. Gilles has other plans. He believes that the assassin of his daughter is hidden in these same mountains, and he seeks vengeance. Germaine, on the contrary, will always be motivated by love. Both see the same destination, but with different ambitions. Little by little, as they travel the roads of France and Spain, they will find renewed hope, thereby providing the family with a new chance of survival.

ALAIN DE HALLEUX

Born in Brussels in 1957. He majored in chemistry and in cinema. As from 1981, he worked as a photographer in the Lebanon and in Afghanistan. As from 1987, he directed commercials and institutional films. In 1995, he directed a film for TV, Fanny se Fait un Sang d`Encre. He also directed a documentary La Trace (1998). Don’t Cry Germaine is his first feature.
