O vertiginoso ?affair? apresentado nesse filme de Krzysztof Kieslowski dá continuidade ao ciclo dos "Dez Mandamentos". Aqui um garoto de dezenove anos,Tomek, que trabalha numa agência do correio, se apaixona por Madalena, sua vizinha dez anos mais velha. Ele começa então a vigiá-la pela janela, acompanhando sua vida íntima, seus encontros amorosos e seus telefonemas, até conhecê-la. Um dramático confronto se estabelece, confundindo as barreiras entre o amor platônico e a violência do desejo. O diretor Krzysztof Kieslowski participou da 5ª Mostra com o longa "Amador", "Não Amarás" (Prêmio do Público da 13ª Mostra), "Decálogo" (Prêmio da Crítica da 13ª Mostra), "A Dupla Vida de Véronique" (16ª Mostra), "A Fraternidade é Vermelha" (18ª Mostra).

KRZYSZTOF KIEŚLOWSKI

Born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1941, and studied film at the Lodz Film School. He gained international acclaim with The Decalogue (1988), a series of ten films originally filmed for television. Two episodes were expanded into feature films: A Short Film About Love (1988), winner of the Audience Award at the 13th Mostra, and A Short Film About Killing (1988), which won both the Jury and the International Critics Prize at Cannes. He directed films like Camera Buff (1979, 5ª Mostra), Blind Chance (1987), The Double Life of Veronique (1992, 16th Mostra) and The Three Colors Trilogy: Blue (1993, 17th Mostra), White (1994) and Red (1994, 18th Mostra). He died in 1996, two years after announcing his retirement.
