Ramirez? camera may be seen in the rear view mirror of a car that cuts the dust on a desert highway along the coast of Peru. With his camera, Ramirez observes the desert void, desolate characters, old friends from Lima, or those but newly met. This is flight from the center and a search for memory that is ever more distant. " This is an ironic film-essay on the tourist outlook of a photographer and anthropologist", says the Director who shot the film in locations in Peru and in India, and into which he weaves his impressions.

JUAN ALEJANDRO RAMIREZ

Juan Alejandro Ramirez was born in Arequipa in Peru. He studied anthropology in the capital, Lima, and then obtained a Fullbright scholarship that made it possible for him to travel to the U.S. where he worked as a photographer. He studied cinema in New York where he produced, photographed, edited, and directed several documentaries such as Zimbabwe: Nuts for Bolts (1988), CAPS: A Peace Plan (1989), Made by Hand (1990), All and Nothing (1993) and I`m a Yovo (1995).
