ALAN JONSSON GAVICA

Born in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, he grew up in Mazatlán, Sinaloa. In 1987, he moved to the U.S. to study photography and cinema. In 1994, he traveled to Mexico City to work with the marketing department in the film distribution sector for BMG Ariola, and returned once more to the U.S. after three years. In 1997, he founded the Ides of March Filmworks producers where he has produced and directed commercials, documentaries and short films both in Mexico, in the U.S., and in several Latin American countries. In 2003, he founded Esfera Films Entertainment, a Mexican producer. He majored in Arts, with graduate studies in photography. He also studied film producing, directing, and script at several universities such as UCLA, Loyola Miramount University, and the Royal International Film Academy in Barcelona, Spain. During this time, he directed two class projects awarded prizes on the festival circuit: in 1992, a documentary Nadie es tan Malo y and, in 1993, one short film - Kung-Fu Fighter. In 1999, he directed a short film The Wedding, and, in 2000, a short film, Knowing. Morenita was his first feature.
