Medea, the heroine of the Greek myth, has become Irène, who is now living among us. She was transformed by the air of our time. Every night, she sings in a cabaret to sustain her family. And Jason abandons her. She ends up on the brink of madness caught in a maze of obsessions but she does not kill children and rivals, but rather inflicts violence on herself until she succumbs to a devastating nervous breaking down. But, the big changing happens when she hears about Marcella, a Rumanian girl who is forced into prostitution and develops cancer. Medea sees her as the symbol of all exploited women. She would like to help her and all those who suffer but it requires a strength which she does not yet possess.

TONINO DE BERNARDI

Nasceu em Chivasso, Província de Turim, em 1937. Formado em história da música, com uma tese sobre Stravinsky, só dá início a sua carreira cinematográfica em 1967, em colaboração com o pintor Paolo Menzio, com Il Mostro Verde. Entre 1980 e 1982 conduz seu projeto de maior envergadura, Donne, com 12 horas de duração, em Super 8, sobre a relação entre um grupo de mulheres. Em 1987, realiza seu primeiro longa-metragem, Elektra, de Sófocles, que recebeu menção especial no Festival Jovem de Turim. Seu Pequenos Horrores (Piccoli Orrori, 1994) esteve na seleção da 19ª Mostra.
