The characters in this film are young Leen, Daan, and Jacob. In a small town in New Zealand, all three, each in his own way, are trying to cope with life. Whereas Daan plans to spend the rest of his days in the small town, Jacob is determined to set off for a university far from there. Lee is trying to break free from the suffocating life style imposed on him. To the boys, motorcycles, music and partying provide temporary satisfaction, but not a vision of the future on a par with their yearnings.

ERIK DE BRUYN

Born in 1962, in Zeeland, Holland, he made his first short film A Girl in a Thousand in 1993. He then wrote scripts and acted as assistant director. In 1997, he directed two episodes for the TV series Berceuses". He worked as an actor in Antonia’s Line (Marleen Gorris) and Cross Fate (Nestor Sanz). Wild Mussels is his first feature as director. "
