The days go by for Martha, Reymond, and their small daughter Lise. Happiness seems to be just ahead; however, phantoms from childhood still torment Martha. At the sea shore, they cling together as though all three had been shipwrecked. They resemble a boat abandoned and ready to shatter at the first wave. Martha acts as the bows of the ship. She has escaped her infancy as if from a nightmare and now braves the storm, her eyes turned skywards. While she struggles between an unstable present and a past of shadows, she calls out her mother’s name, but is only aware of her scream reverberating, like a stone falling into a lake.
