CARLITOS RUIZ RUIZ

CARLITOS RUIZ RUIZ Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1974. Studied photography at the University of Puerto Rico and Film Direction at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His short film Pelota de Papel was awarded at the Hamptons Film Festival, amongst others. Besides his work as commercial director, he’s also a founder and professor in the Taller de Cine Corto Circuito and in the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico. In 2003 he started to make his first feature film Maldeamores, winner script from the audience in the Scene Slam competition in Puerto Rico. MARIEM PÉREZ RIERA She graduated in Film and Theater Direction from the Miami University in 1995, with courses in Documentary Direction at the New York University and workshops in editing and directing at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión in Cuba. She has worked as a director in television programs, stage manager, theatre teacher, has directed and edited music videos and commercials, and has worked as a teacher in the Taller de Cine Corto-Circuito and in the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico. The first documentary film she directed is Cuando Lo Pequeño Se Hace Grande, awarded at the Los Angeles International Independent Film Festival in 2002 amongst others. Maldeamores is her first feature film.
