Nadja charges through life, uncompromising and absolute. By the day is a student of Photography. At night in her favorite club where she dances ecstatically, flirts intensely and has quick sex. When she gets to know Darius, all Nadja has in mind is a one-night stand. But then Darius tells her he loves her. At first, Nadja brushes off the young man six years her junior who’s so fascinated by her energy. But she is desperate to sleep with him. Having sex with Darius, Nadja experiences a deep, unknown sense of merging. An experience that touches her to the core and allows her to hope she’s finally found what deep down she’s always being longing for. Overjoyed, she plunges into an exhilarating relationship. But the more she yields to Darius, the more he withdraws. The world seems to withdraw from her as well: the magazine that’s been giving her commissions rejects her pictures as insufficiently radical, and her professor, too, refuses to accept them as graduation topic. On top of that, her mother, disenchanted with men, tries to talk her out of Darius. When Nadja becomes pregnant Darius suddenly wants her for himself again and Nadja realizes that the battle is just beginning: the battle for her direction as a photographer, the battle against other’s beliefs and the battle for love which grows more and more desperate – the love Nadja would like to sink into in order to find herself and which Darius is afraid of drowning in.
