An animated film made with real actors, natural lighting, and a hand-held camera, in the most perfect Dogma style. The scenes were subsequently manipulated frame by frame on a computer. The plot follows the misfortunes of a solitary woman who was disfigured in an accident and who has lost her lips. She can not find any type of occupation and makes a career as a private detective. Her first client is a boy who contracts her to find his mother who is missing. The more she devotes herself to searching for this “other one”, the more vulnerable she feels in relation to herself. The director states that she “is interested in people who try to live away from the roles that have been imposed on them, by reason of their age, class, or sex, and how identities are attributed simply by appearances. The fact the main character does not have lips defines her, both to herself and to others. This condition limits her opportunities and, in her imagination, she sees herself as an aberration.”
